System requirements
- Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11
- 64-bit x86 processor
- .NET 8 desktop runtime (installer bundles it)
- No admin rights required — runs under your regular Windows user account
- Internet for license activation and email reports
Download and install
- Go to the download page and click Download Kaizen Focus.
- Run the installer (
KaizenFocusSetup.exe). Accept the UAC / SmartScreen prompt. - Accept the licence, pick an install location, and click Install.
- On first launch, Focus prompts you to create an admin PIN (4 digits) and set up your first user.
Installs a Windows service. Focus runs a small
KaizenLABWtchr watchdog service to keep itself alive. The service starts automatically on boot and uses negligible resources.
What gets installed
- Main Focus application (
KaizenFocus.exe) - Watchdog service (
KaizenLABWtchr) — keeps Focus running if it's killed - Local SQLite database with your settings, schedules, and tracking data
- Auto-start entry so Focus launches with Windows
Uninstalling
Use Settings → Apps in Windows. Kaizen Focus will ask for the admin PIN before uninstalling — this is intentional to prevent kids or coworkers from removing it.
