Take back
your screen.
Block distracting sites and apps. Set daily limits, downtime, and focus windows. See exactly where your hours went. For yourself, your family, or your team — with parent, employee, and multi-user modes.
Four levers to take control of your day.
Block what distracts. Limit what drains. Schedule when to shut down. See exactly where time went.
Block URLs, domains, or specific YouTube channels.
Add twitter.com to the blocklist and every browser on your machine refuses to load it. Block a specific YouTube channel and the rest of YouTube still works. Block an app (Steam, Discord) and Focus closes its windows when you try to open it during restriction windows.
- Uses Windows UI Automation API to detect URLs in browser windows — no extensions to install
- Per-block granularity: full domain, full YouTube channel, or a specific URL
- Supported browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, IE, Opera, Brave, Maxthon
- Process-level enforcement for blocked desktop apps
- Full-screen lock overlay appears on violation — no Alt+F4, mute enforced
YouTube 60 minutes. Instagram 30. Netflix weekends only.
Assign a daily time budget to any app or website. Focus tracks usage in real time; when the budget runs out, the app is blocked for the rest of the day. Budgets reset at midnight. Each day of the week can have its own budget — Monday–Friday strict, Saturday–Sunday relaxed.
- 43+ pre-recognised apps: YouTube, YT Shorts, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Netflix, Twitch, Reddit, WhatsApp Web, and more
- Group multiple apps into one limit (e.g. “Social media: 45 min/day”)
- Per day-of-week configuration
- See remaining minutes in real time on the dashboard
Hard block everything from 9pm to 7am.
Downtime is a hard stop: during your scheduled window, every app and site in your blocklist is enforced. Free Time carves out exceptions — whitelist specific apps that are allowed during downtime (e.g. meditation app, reading app, calculator).
- Downtime slot 1 is free. Pro adds 3 more slots for multiple windows per day.
- Free Time: up to 4 whitelist windows that punch holes in Downtime
- All-week or specific days
- Grace period after Windows wake-from-sleep (30 seconds) to prevent false triggers
Productive. Neutral. Unproductive.
Every app and website gets a category. Focus ships sensible defaults — code editors are Productive, social media is Unproductive — and you can reclassify anything you disagree with. Reports then show your split.
- Three-tier classification: Productive / Neutral / Unproductive
- Server-maintained defaults for 1000+ common apps & domains
- Override any classification per-user
- Shown in reports and the activity timeline
Know exactly where your hours went.
Focus passively logs every app and domain. The activity timeline shows a 30-minute stacked-bar breakdown of your day — hover to see the exact mix. Usage summaries aggregate Total, Active, Idle, YouTube, YouTube Shorts, and Rules Broken counts.
- Activity timeline with 30-min resolution
- Auto-detect active vs idle (5-min retroactive grace)
- IP tracking (know which network you were on)
- Daily / weekly / monthly email reports with HTML charts
- Optional: screenshots attached to reports
Visual proof of focus — or proof it slipped.
Optional periodic screenshots give you (or a parent / manager) a visual record. Screenshots are grouped by 30-minute intervals, visible from the gallery, and can be sent with daily / weekly / monthly reports.
- Configurable capture interval
- Per-user screenshot toggle (parent can enable for kid but not themselves)
- Optional deletion restriction: only admins can delete screenshots
- 30-min interval collage generator for compact reports
Self-discipline, parent-child, or manager-employee.
I built Focus for my own kids after Kaspersky Safe Kids and every alternative fell short — no grouped limits, data shipped to the cloud, bloated installs. So I made one tool that works for all three scenarios: lightweight, local-only, and granular enough to block a single YouTube channel.
Self mode
You're your own admin. Set up restrictions for yourself, lock the settings behind a 4-digit PIN, and trust your future self to not know the PIN. Great for solo productivity.
Parent mode
Admin (parent) manages one or more kid accounts. Each kid gets their own rules, their own timeline, their own restrictions. Pause requests via email approval flow.
Employee mode
Enforce minimum working hours (daily / weekly / monthly), define tracked hours (e.g. Mon-Fri 10am-7pm), and receive reports. For managers running accountability for small teams.
Not even you can bypass it — unless you really mean to.
A 4-digit admin PIN locks every settings panel. Changing rules, disabling Focus, or deleting screenshots all require the PIN. Lock screens during blocked time can’t be Alt+F4’d — they sit on top, mute system audio, and hide the taskbar.
- 4-digit PIN (you pick it at setup)
- Lock screens resist Alt+F4, Task Manager, and taskbar workarounds
- Audio muted during lock screens
- Watchdog service restarts Focus if killed
- Pause Restrictions: requires PIN or sends an email approval request to admin
Focus tools shouldn’t be disableable in one click.
We designed Kaizen Focus to be load-bearing — something parents, employers, and self-disciplined users can actually rely on. That means a few trade-offs you should know about: uninstalling takes your admin PIN, pausing restrictions takes your admin PIN, and the app keeps running in the background even after you close the window. If that sounds like overkill for your use case, an extension might be enough. If you’ve ever had a rule quietly disabled and not noticed for a week, you know why we built it this way.
