Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most-asked Kaizen Timer questions.

What Android versions are supported?

Android 8.0 (Oreo) and later. Covers 99%+ of Android devices in use today.

Does it work on iPhone or iPad?

No. Kaizen Timer is Android-only. iOS doesn't allow system-level overlays from third-party apps, so a lock-screen-over-everything behaviour isn't technically possible on iPhone.

Can my child uninstall it to bypass the lock?

Android requires the lock screen to be dismissed before uninstall is permitted. That means your child needs your PIN (or biometric) to uninstall Kaizen Timer during a locked session.

Can my child bypass by force-quitting the app?

No. Kaizen Timer runs a foreground service with StartCommandResult.Sticky, meaning the OS restarts the service automatically if it's killed. The overlay persists.

What if the battery dies during a timer?

Timer state is persisted with UTC timestamps. When the phone powers back on, the app calculates how much time would have elapsed and either continues the countdown or shows the lock screen.

Does it support multiple children?

Not directly — Kaizen Timer is a single-session tool. Each parent runs one timer at a time. For multiple kids on different devices, install on each.

Does it require internet?

No, for core functionality. Internet is required only for the one-time Pro license activation. Everything else runs offline.

Is it free?

Free tier with a 9-minute per-session cap. Pro is $4.99 one-time to lift the cap.

Are there ads?

Never. Not on Free, not on Pro.

Do you collect data about my child?

No. Zero data collection of any kind. Everything stays on your device. Full details.

Will my kid find a way around this?

If your kid has your PIN: yes. If not: very unlikely. Kaizen Timer uses Android's strictest overlay mechanisms; bypasses would require root access or exploiting Android itself. We update whenever Android adds new protections.

How do I report a bug?

Email [email protected] with your device model, Android version, and a description of what happened.
