Keep PC Awake

The Keep PC Awake feature prevents your computer from going to sleep, activating the screensaver, or locking the screen. This is essential during long downloads, presentations, unattended processes, or any situation where the computer must remain active.

How It Works

Auto Mouse Click uses a combination of techniques to keep the computer awake:

  • Simulates minimal input activity to reset the system idle timer
  • Optionally prevents the display from turning off
  • Blocks the screensaver from activating
  • Prevents Windows from entering sleep or hibernate mode

Enabling Keep Awake

  1. Open Auto Mouse Click.
  2. Navigate to Features > Keep PC Awake.
  3. Toggle the feature On.
  4. Configure options (see below).
  5. The PC will remain awake as long as the feature is active.

Keep PC Awake settings

Configuration Options

Setting Description
Prevent sleep Stop the computer from entering sleep mode
Prevent display off Keep the monitor turned on
Prevent screensaver Block the screensaver from activating
Prevent lock screen Stop the automatic lock screen

Minimal Footprint

Keep PC Awake uses very little system resources. It only generates the minimum activity needed to prevent idle timeouts. You can run it alongside other work without any noticeable impact.

Use Cases

Long Downloads or Uploads

Prevent the computer from sleeping during overnight file transfers:

  1. Enable Keep PC Awake
  2. Start your download or upload
  3. Leave the computer unattended
  4. The transfer completes without interruption

Presentations

Keep the screen active during presentations when you may not touch the mouse or keyboard for extended periods.

Unattended Processing

Ensure long-running tasks (video rendering, data processing, backups) are not interrupted by power management settings.

Remote Access

Keep the computer awake and accessible for remote desktop connections.

Scheduling Keep Awake

Combine Keep Awake with the Scheduling feature to:

  • Keep the PC awake only during business hours
  • Activate keep-awake before a scheduled task starts
  • Allow the computer to sleep at night and stay awake during the day

Versus Windows Power Settings

While you can adjust Windows power settings to prevent sleep, Keep PC Awake offers advantages:

  • Temporary -- Toggle on and off without changing system settings
  • No admin rights needed -- Does not require access to Windows power management
  • Schedulable -- Activate on a schedule without permanent changes
  • Combinable -- Works alongside mouse movement and other automation features

Battery Laptops

On laptop computers, keeping the PC awake will drain the battery if not connected to power. Ensure the laptop is plugged in for extended keep-awake sessions.
