Video Dubbing

Video dubbing allows you to replace or overlay the audio track of a video with an AI-generated voiceover in any supported language. This is ideal for localizing video content, creating multilingual versions, or adding narration.

How Video Dubbing Works

Speech Studio extracts the audio from your video, generates a new voiceover from your provided text using the selected AI voice, and combines it back with the video. The result is a fully dubbed video file ready for sharing.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Import a Video

Click Video Dubbing in the main menu. Then import your video file by clicking Browse or dragging the file into the import area.

Supported Video Formats

Speech Studio supports common video formats including MP4, AVI, MKV, and MOV.

2. Provide the Script

Enter the new voiceover text in the script area. This is the text that will be spoken over the video. You can:

  • Type the script manually
  • Paste translated text from another source
  • Use the built-in speech-to-text feature to transcribe the original audio first, then edit or translate it

3. Select Voice and Language

Choose an AI voice for the dubbing. Pick a voice that matches the tone and language of your project. See Voice Selection for guidance on choosing voices.

4. Adjust Timing (Optional)

For best results, match the length of your script to the video duration. Speech Studio allows you to adjust the speaking speed so the voiceover fits naturally within the video timeline.

5. Generate the Dubbed Video

Click Generate to create the dubbed video. Speech Studio will:

  1. Generate the audio from your script
  2. Merge the new audio with the original video
  3. Output the final video file

6. Preview and Export

Preview the dubbed video within the app. If you are satisfied, export the final file to your preferred location.

Best Practices

  • Write the script to match the pacing of the original video
  • Use SSML tags to add pauses where visual transitions occur
  • Preview with the video before final export to check synchronization

Use Cases

  • Translating training videos for international teams
  • Creating multilingual marketing content
  • Adding narration to silent videos or screen recordings
  • Replacing poor-quality audio in existing videos
