Installing OCR & PDF Tools

This guide covers downloading and installing Kaizen Apps OCR & PDF Tools on your Windows PC.

System Requirements

Requirement Minimum
Operating System Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
RAM 4 GB (8 GB recommended for large documents)
Disk Space 500 MB free (includes Tesseract OCR engine and language data)
Internet Required only for activation and updates
.NET .NET Desktop Runtime 6.0 or later

Offline Operation

After installation and activation, OCR & PDF Tools works entirely offline. No internet connection is needed for day-to-day use.

Download

  1. Visit the OCR & PDF Tools download page on the Kaizen Apps website.
  2. Click the Download button to get the latest installer.
  3. Save the installer to your Downloads folder or another convenient location.

Installation Steps

  1. Run the installer -- Double-click the downloaded .exe file.
  2. Accept the license agreement -- Read and accept the EULA to proceed.
  3. Choose installation folder -- The default is C:\Program Files\Kaizen Apps\OCR PDF Tools. Change if needed.
  4. Select language packs -- Choose which OCR language packs to install. English is included by default. Add other languages you plan to use. You can add more later.
  5. Select additional options -- Create a desktop shortcut and Start Menu entry.
  6. Click Install -- Installation may take a minute or two as the Tesseract engine and language data are configured.
  7. Launch the application -- Click Finish to open OCR & PDF Tools.

Adding Language Packs Later

If you need to add OCR languages after installation:

  1. Open OCR & PDF Tools
  2. Go to Settings > Language Packs
  3. Check the languages you want to add
  4. Click Download -- Language data files will be added to the Tesseract data directory
