Dashboard Overview

The OCR & PDF Tools dashboard is your central hub for accessing all features. This guide walks you through the main areas of the interface.

The left sidebar contains quick links to all major features:

  • Simple OCR -- One-click text extraction
  • Advanced OCR -- OCR with preprocessing options
  • Screenshot OCR -- Screen capture and extract
  • PDF Extract -- Pull text from PDFs
  • Image Tools -- Deskew, rotate, crop
  • PDF Tools -- Merge, split, convert, secure
  • Settings -- Application configuration

The Work Area

The central work area is where you perform all operations. It adapts based on the selected feature:

  • Image viewer -- Displays loaded images with zoom and pan controls
  • Text output panel -- Shows extracted text with copy and export options
  • PDF viewer -- Previews PDF pages with navigation controls

Quick Actions Bar

The top toolbar provides quick access to the most common operations:

Button Action
Open Load an image or PDF file
Paste Paste an image from clipboard
OCR Run text extraction on the current image
Copy Copy extracted text to clipboard
Save Save extracted text or converted file

Status Bar

The bottom status bar displays:

  • Current OCR language selection
  • Processing progress during OCR operations
  • File information (name, size, dimensions)

Customizing the Layout

You can adjust the dashboard to suit your workflow:

  • Resize panels -- Drag the dividers between the image viewer and text output to allocate more space
  • Zoom controls -- Use the mouse wheel or zoom buttons to adjust the image view
  • Theme -- Switch between light and dark themes in Settings > Appearance

Keyboard Shortcuts

Speed up your workflow with keyboard shortcuts. Press Ctrl+O to open a file, Ctrl+Shift+S to take a screenshot OCR, and Ctrl+C to copy extracted text. View all shortcuts in Help > Keyboard Shortcuts.
