Merge & Split PDF¶
Combine multiple PDF files into one document or split a single PDF into separate files. These tools make it easy to organize and restructure PDF documents without any external software.
Merge PDFs¶
Combine two or more PDF files into a single document.
How to Merge¶
- Click PDF Tools > Merge in the sidebar.
- Click Add Files or drag and drop PDF files onto the merge panel.
- Arrange the files in the desired order by dragging them up or down in the list.
- Click Merge to combine them.
- Choose a save location and file name for the merged PDF.

Page Order
The pages in the merged PDF follow the order of the files in the list. Place the files in the sequence you want before clicking Merge.
Merge Options¶
- All pages -- Include every page from each file (default)
- Selected pages -- Choose specific page ranges from each file to include
Split PDF¶
Divide a single PDF into multiple separate files.
How to Split¶
- Click PDF Tools > Split in the sidebar.
- Open the PDF you want to split.
- Choose a split method:
- Split by page count -- Each output file contains N pages (e.g., every 5 pages)
- Split by page ranges -- Specify custom ranges (e.g., 1-3, 4-7, 8-12)
- Extract single pages -- Save each page as its own PDF
- Click Split.
- Choose the output folder. Files are named automatically with sequential numbers.
Split Examples¶
| Method | Input | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Every 5 pages | 20-page PDF | 4 files of 5 pages each |
| Ranges: 1-3, 4-10, 11-20 | 20-page PDF | 3 files with specified pages |
| Single pages | 10-page PDF | 10 individual PDF files |
Tips and Best Practices¶
- Preview before merging -- Open each file to verify content and page order
- Check file size -- Merging many large PDFs produces a correspondingly large output file
- Preserve originals -- The merge and split operations create new files; your original PDFs are not modified
Password-Protected Files
If any of the source PDFs are password-protected, you will need to enter the password before they can be merged or split. See Remove PDF Password if needed.
