Time-Limited TikTok Access¶
If you want to allow some TikTok usage but prevent excessive scrolling:
- Add
tiktok.comwith a time limit (e.g., 15 or 30 minutes per day) - Once the time is used, TikTok becomes inaccessible for the rest of the day
Why Block TikTok?¶
TikTok's algorithm is specifically designed to maximize engagement and viewing time. Common reasons to block or limit it:
- Productivity -- The endless scroll can consume hours of productive time
- Child safety -- Exposure to age-inappropriate content
- Focus -- Short-form video content can reduce attention span for sustained work
- Data privacy -- Concerns about data collection practices
Verifying the Block¶
After setting up your rules:
- Open a browser and navigate to
tiktok.com - Confirm the Focus block page appears
- If the TikTok desktop app was installed, try launching it to confirm it is blocked
