Installing Focus¶
This guide covers downloading and installing Focus on your Windows PC.
System Requirements¶

Download¶
- Visit the Focus download page on the Kaizen Apps website.
- Click Download to get the latest installer.
- Save the file to a convenient location.
Installation Steps¶
- Run the installer -- Double-click the downloaded
.exefile. - Accept the license agreement -- Read and accept the EULA.
- Choose installation folder -- The default is
C:\Program Files\Kaizen Apps\Focus. Change if desired. - Select startup options:
- Start with Windows -- Recommended. Focus launches automatically when the computer starts, ensuring restrictions are always active.
- Desktop shortcut -- Creates a shortcut on your desktop.
- System tray icon -- Show Focus in the system tray for quick access.
- Click Install -- Wait for installation to complete.
- Launch Focus -- Click Finish to open the application and begin the Setup Wizard.
Administrator Rights
Focus requires administrator privileges to enforce website blocking and app restrictions. You may be prompted to approve elevated permissions during installation.
Auto-Start Configuration¶
For Focus to effectively manage screen time, it should start automatically with Windows. If you did not enable this during installation:
- Open Focus
- Go to Settings > General
- Enable Start with Windows
Background Operation
Focus runs quietly in the system tray when minimized. It continues to enforce all rules and restrictions even when the main window is not visible.
