Is Kaizen OCR completely offline?

Yes. All OCR processing and document conversion happens locally on your machine. No internet connection is required after installation. Your documents and data never leave your computer.

What operating systems are supported?

Kaizen OCR & PDF supports Windows 10 and Windows 11. macOS and Linux are not currently supported.

Is an internet connection ever required?

Only for two purposes: downloading the installer and activating a Pro license key. After that, all features work completely offline.

What is the difference between Easy OCR and Advanced OCR?

Easy OCR provides quick one-click text extraction with default settings -- ideal for everyday documents. Advanced OCR offers full control including preprocessing tools (denoising, sharpening, thresholding, deskew), confidence levels, and layout preservation -- best for complex or low-quality documents.

What is the difference between Paddle OCR and Tesseract OCR?

Paddle OCR (AI-powered) offers higher accuracy, especially for tables, layouts, and structured documents. It uses machine learning for smarter text detection. Tesseract OCR is faster and more lightweight, ideal for simple documents and standard text recognition tasks.

What image and document formats are supported?

Input formats: PNG, JPEG, JPG, TIFF, BMP, GIF, WebP, and PDF. Output/conversion formats: PDF, DOCX, DOC, RTF, TXT, HTML, ODT, and EPUB.

How many languages does Kaizen OCR support?

Kaizen OCR supports 100+ languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, Greek, Hebrew, and many more.

Can I extract text from scanned PDFs?

Yes. Both Easy OCR and Advanced OCR can process scanned PDFs. For best results with scanned documents, use Advanced OCR with preprocessing tools enabled.

How many free uses do I get?

The free version provides 7 uses per feature. All tools and features are included in the free version -- only the number of uses is limited.

What are the Pro plans?

How do I activate my license?

After purchasing, you will receive a license key via email. Open Kaizen OCR, click Activate License, enter your key, and click Activate. See the Activate License guide for detailed steps.

Can I use my license on multiple computers?

Each license key is valid for one computer. Contact [email protected] if you need to transfer your license to a new machine.

Is there a refund policy?

Yes. Kaizen OCR offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied, contact support for a full refund.

Troubleshooting

The OCR results are inaccurate. How can I improve them?

Try these steps:

  1. Use Advanced OCR instead of Easy OCR
  2. Enable preprocessing tools: Denoising, Sharpening, and Thresholding
  3. Use Crop & Deskew first to straighten tilted images
  4. Try switching between Paddle OCR and Tesseract OCR engines
  5. Ensure the source image is at least 150 DPI for best results
The application won't start. What should I do?
  1. Ensure you are running Windows 10 or later
  2. Try running the application as Administrator
  3. Reinstall the application from kaizen-apps.com
